September 2008
+++THANK YOU!+++
Thank you to all who prayed for those in the path of Hurricane Ike this past weekend. Although there is much damage, and a long road to recovery ahead, as seen in the pictures below, minimal lives were lost, a true answer to prayer.
I haven't been able to speak to my Aunt & Uncle personally, but I understand they came through the storm safely even though the building they were sheltering in lost part of its roof during the ordeal. I'm not sure if they've been able to return to their home yet because of flood waters. Homes are replaceable, lives aren't. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been impacted by this storm one way or another.

+++SPECIAL PRAYER REQUEST+++
THURSDAY, September 11: After giving us a glancing blow for the past 3 days, Hurricane Ike is set to make land fall somewhere along the Texas Coast, around Houston within the next 24 - 48 hrs. Thank you for all who have kept us here in South West Florida in your prayers. God is good and we have been spared any major damage - just some minor flooding.
I just spoke to my Aunt & Uncle who live south of Houston near the Bay area. They are in a manditory evacuation zone and were busy boarding up their home and then heading to shelter. As you can see from the satelite pictures above, this storm is growing by the hour in size and intensity. Please pray for God's Hand to be on my Aunt & Uncle and family, and all those in the path of this storm, that no lives will be lost and for minimal damage. Thank you!

The new shipment of CD's/DVD's from Finland has been unpacked, assembled, processed and stored away!
HB (Finland)

By popular demand, we've imported some of HB's earlier CD's and a DVD. Although these works are in Finnish, they are great to listen to, and watch. The picture and sound on the DVD is good quality, with the option of English sub-titles. This is a great help as Johanna shares more of the Band's background in an interview. Besides a full concert, the DVD features snippets from previous shows and concerts dating back to 2002, showing how the band has grown and mature through the years to where they are today.

DEUTERONOMIUM (Finland)

After 6 years of total silence, and 9 years since the release of their last CD, DEUTERONOMIUM are back with a vengance with their latest release, "From the Midst of the Battle". Besides the specially packaged CD edition, the band has released a SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION - only 500 numbered copies, which includes a DVD along with the CD. The DVD includes a concert, footage of the band in the studio and their trip to the Elements of Rock Festival 2008. Great quality, great sound. Most of the dialogue is in Finnish. The band has certainly grown and matured and are stronger than ever!

BRIDGESHADOWS (USA)

YoungSide Records and Bridgeshadows are please to be partnering together on Bridgeshadow's latest project. After an absence of 4 years, Bridgeshadows were given the opportunity to showcase their latest release - “Pray For Rain” at Cornerstone 2008. With this new release comes a new band line up – Bethany Jones (vocals), Coriolis' frontman, Jonathan Stamets (vocals / guitar / programming), and founding member and brains behind the band, Wedding Party's ex keyboardist, KL (guitar / keyboard / programming). Bethany's pure vocals and Jonathan's dark/metal vocals certainly bring a new dimention and new sound worth taking time to listen to.

CORIOLIS (USA)
YoungSide Records is also pleased to have teamed up with Coriolis who was signed with the now defunct PsychoAcoustix Records. Unfortunately this project never received the attention I believe it deserves as the result of the untimely death of the owner, Carl Crandell. We are looking forward to working with Jonathan and Coriolis in getting this debut project the recognition it deserves, thus leading up to a new release in the coming months.

TEMPLAR (AUSTRALIA)
TEMPLAR is the guitar-driven dark wave metal side project of the Western Australian band Paradoxx. TEMPLAR has added their own modern techno feel to the old school traditional heavy metal style with elements of power and goth metal mixed in, to give it a very cool dark wave vibe.

AS AN EX-ZIMBABWEAN, I STILL HAVE FAMILY AND FRIENDS LIVING IN THIS LITTLE NATION. I REALIZE THAT MANY OF YOU MAY NOT EVEN BE AWARE OF WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING IN ZIMBABWE OVER THE PAST 28 YEARS. SUFFICE TO SAY, MY COUNTRY IS CONTROLLED BY A TRUE DESPOT BY THE NAME OF ROBERT MUGABE, WHO IS SYSTEMATICALLY ELIMINATING ANYONE WHO DARES TO OPPOSE HIM AND HIS REGIME.
